About Phoenix

Phoenix has its roots as a guild all the way back to the start of WoW in Europe. The core of the guild were part of a 2 day raiding guild which managed to clear Spider wing and a couple of other bosses in old Naxx. We split from that old guild for several reasons during the levelling process shortly after TBC came out, and we created Phoenix.

The GM of Phoenix was an officer in that guild and has been the GM since the day Phoenix was created. The council members of Phoenix are all old members or officers from then as well, as well as the core of raiders that have been playing since orignal WoW was released, we have a lot of experience playing together and raiding.

Phoenix continued on from there and we cleared all of The Burning Crusade raid content, and our goal is to continue do the same in all of WoWs current and future content. All of our kills and progress can be seen on our front page.

We are a guild that caters for people who are not able to raid on a heavy schedule, but still wish to see end game content. We raid three nights a week, Monday, Thursday and Sunday, for which attendance is mandatory. On these nights we focus on new content primarily (when it is there..), on off-days there's occasionally some 10 man raiding.

We are a relatively small guild and don't have a massive turn over of players like other guilds do. As such we are a quite close-knit community and we expect members to have good communication skills, a microphone and the will to use it is a big plus. It is also worth noting that the members we do have are very dedicated, both to the raiding nights we run and to the social element of the guild. If you join us you can expect a friendly and mature atmosphere and endless hours of talk about random gibberish in unintelligible accents on ventrilo.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This section conains our rules and principles. There is a lot to read, but please take your time and read through them if you are seriously considering applying.

Respect The first and most important rule is to treat everyone in the guild with respect. This extends to all parts of guild life, from looting that item that everyone wants all the way to forming parties, and even your conduct on VT or guild chat.

Excluding alt ranks there are only 3 ranks in Phoenix, Friends, a rank for real life friends/family of current members who wish to play in our community or guild veterans who are no longer able to raid and have earned it. Members, raiding members of the guild that sign up to the mandatory raiding nights and work in rotation on the role queue system to fill the raids. Council, players with the same obligations as members with regards to raiding but with the added responsibility of the day to day running of the guild including making guild policy and dealing with class/personal issues.

The guild bank, a deposit for items donated to the guild by its members and a place for distribution. The guild bank funds are primarily to be spent on raiding consumables i.e. repair bots, requested respecs and tanking flasks/ironshield pots to help ease the burden on members. Anything in the bank is available to any member upon request.

For members, if at all possible, all bank/mule alts are preferably not in the guild to avoid clutter also including profession alts. Only alts you spend a considerable amount of time playing should really be added. To further avoid clutter all alts that have been unplayed for 1 month or more will be removed, if a member wants to renew playing that alt they are welcome to get it reinvited.

----------------------------------------------------------

Three mandatory raiding days These days are Sunday, Monday and Thursday, these occur between 20:00 and 23:30 server time (invites start going in at 19:30, and any replacements happen at 19:45). All members are expected to be available on these days, however there is an opportunity to sign AWOL (meaning unable to attend) for an event on the forum. AWOLs should only be made for engagements that are really important.

We use Ventrilo for raid communication and as such all members of the guild are expected to be able to use ventrilo to follow raid orders. Speaking is completely optional, but being able to listen, and follow instructions is a must. All communication is done in English, so if you struggle with spoken English please let us know.

Forum access is extremely important, a lot of discussions and decisions will be made on our forums, as well as important announcements. You will be required to check for and read the announcements. If there is a discussion or poll running, after it is closed your opinion will not be counted.

Loot distribution is handled by a zero sum dkp system and operates in 25 man raids (on current content only), 10 man raids and old 25 man raids are not supported by the system and run by /rolls. Please be considerate.

In non-dkp raids, most things are simply /rolled, in this case current members will always have priority over trialists however consideration will always be given with regard to upgrade value.

-----------------------------------------------

Active improvements outside of raids are also required. We only raid 3 days and for those 3 days, every raid member must be 100% dedicated. For the raids to be successful, we need every little edge we can get. So all gear must be enchanted and players must bring along enough of the appropriate consumables (reagents, pots, flasks, food etc) to last the entire raid night. Also, we have a section on our forums where we discuss tactics, and where our final tactics get wrote up, please spend some time reading these as all guilds do things slightly differently. For new content, do as much research as possible about any new encounters we are due to face.

Recruitment will only be opened when there are an insufficient number of members in a specific role pool to effectively cover AWOLs, individual class needs are decided by the council. All applications will be done through a form on the website and submitted privately. During the trial period a potential member will accumulate dkp as a normal member does but not be able to spend it, unless the item is to be disenchanted.

During a trial period recruits are expected to spend their time on their main getting to know guild members and showing off their knowledge of the game and ability, as such during the trial period the trialist will not be allowed alts in the guild.
